The Crystal Structure of m-Iodobenzoic Acid Investigated by X-Ray Powder Diffraction

The crystals of the title compound is monoclinic with space group P2_1 a,a=26.57(2),b=4.69(1),c=6.23(1)A,beta=101.7(1)ﾟ,and Z=4.The crystal structure was solved from X-ray powder diffractometer data by the packing analysis with a molecular model consisting of an ellipsoid and spheres,and refined by a comparison of calculated intensities from constrained model with observed intensities.The final R value was 0.12.This structure is isostructural with that of m-bromobenzoic acid.メタ・ヨード安息香酸の結晶構造をX線粉末回折法により解析した。結晶は単斜晶系で，空間群はP2＿1／a，格子定数はa＝26．57，b＝4．69，c＝6．23A，beta＝101．7°で，単位格子に4個の分子が含まれる。近似構造を楕円体及び全ての原子を球に近似した分子モデルで決めた。結晶構造は粉末回折強度の測定値と計算値を比較する最小自乗法で決定した。その結果，結晶構造はメタ・ブロム安息香酸に似た構造であることが分かった
