Physical mechanism for negative differential conductivity (NDC) arising in the characteristics of electron drift velocity versus increasing electric field strength in binary mixtures of the inert gases, He-Ar, He-Kr and He-Xe has been quantitatively studied. Approach to constitution of the theory is the transport equation with effective momentum transfer collision frequencies, which has been applied to analyses of the transportation for electrons in so weak electric field that inelastic collisions are quite negligible. Then, a criterion for the NDC based on the presence of the Ramsauer-Townsend minimum (RTM) characteristics have been distinctly formulated.
