La présente thèse vise à revaloriser l’intérêt et l’importance des Alpes occidentales au cours de l’Antiquité tardive. L’enjeu a été d’identifier les occupations se rapportant à la période qui se développe entre la fin du IIIe et le début du VIIe s., de comparer leurs trajectoires évolutives et d’analyser le maillage général dans un espace initialement défini comme la Viennoise alpine. Une géographie singulière déterminée par ses atouts au cœur de dynamiques fortes de l’Antiquité tardive, au contact de pôles attractifs, voies de communication et territoires hostiles.
