THE PAPER FOCUSES on the problem of refounded study of International Relations on the basis of International Political Theory. The first section summarizes what kind of assistance can theorists of International Relations expect to receive from the International Political Theory? One answer is M. Wight’s essay Why is there no international Theory?. M. Wight wrote that with a few exceptions, the great political philosophers either ignored international relations, or treated them on the margins of their work. Second answer is that the great political philosophers have, indeed, a great deal to say about international relations. The second section presents context for understanding the underlying purposes to bridge the gap that has developed between the two fields. The third section presents more radical proposition to resolve this gap. Justin Rosenberg contends that the means of achieving it are available in idea o “uneven and combined development”.
