The influences of crack length and loading rate on fracture toughness were studied experimentally at room temperature for wood. The results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) Fracture toughness was slightly dependent on the loading rate in RL specimen. (2) Fracture toughness decreased with increasing a/W (crack length)
