Wavelet Analysis of Velocity Fluctuations in Vegitated Channels

Multiresolution analysis was applied to the investigation of characteristics of velocity fluctuations in vegitated channels. Multiresolution analysis can be extracted information contents at a given resolution by decomposing flow velocity time series on a discrete wavelet basis, called wavelet representation. Velocity fluctuation data are obtained experimentally through laboratory flumes planted four kind of water plants. It is detected representative features of fluctuations and time of occurrence of these fluctuating patterns. Spectra of velocity fluctuations consists of two predominant frequency ranges, one is due to the movements of water plants as a whole, the other is due to the small scale disturbance near the water plants layer. There exists clear frequency gaps between these two ranges. Multiresolution representations are effective for analyzing characteristics features of the fluctuating phenomena.植生水路内の流速変動の特性について多重解像度解析 を適用して検討した。多重解像度解析によれば，流速時 系列を，離散ウェーブレット基底により分解することに より，与えられた分解能の情報を抽出することができる。 流速変動データは4種類の水草を敷設した室内実験によ り得られた。代表的な変動の様相と変動パターンの生起 時刻が検出された。流速変動のスペクトルには二つの卓 越周波数帯域が存在し，一つは植生の全体のゆらぎに起 因し，もう一つは植生層近傍の小さいスケールの揺動に 起因している。両方の周波数帯域には明確なギャップが 存在している。多重解像度表現は変動現象の特性を解析 するのに有効である
