Molecular identification of fungi in the galleries of the fir pinhole borer, Treptoplatypus oxyurus (Dufour, 1843.)

Jelin valjkasti srčikar (Treptoplatypus oxyurus) jedan je od dvije vrste srčikara iz potporodice Platypodinae koje obitavaju u Hrvatskoj. Ima disjunktni areal, sekundarni je štetnik jele i živi u simbiozi s gljivama ambrozije. Zbog nedovoljno istražene biologije, cilj ovog rada bio je molekularnom identifikacijom utvrditi zajednicu gljiva simbionta do razine vrste. U rezultatima se ističu kvasci Meyerozyma guilliermondii i Saprochaete fungicola, te crvenorubna guba Fomitopsis pinicola.Fir pinhole borer (Treptoplatypus oxyurus) is one of the two wood-boring species from subfamily Platypodinae that are discovered in Croatia. It has disjunct habitat, it is a secondary pest of fir and lives in symbiosis with ambrosia fungi. Due to insufficiently researched biology, the aim of this paper was to determine the fungal symbiont community down to the species level by using molecular identification methods. Meyerozyma guilliermondii and Saprochaete fungicola yeasts stand out in the results, as well as the decay fungus Fomitopsis pinicola
