The texts gathered here are concerned with the methods, knowledge and issues involved in what is known as 'collaborative' (henceforth 'CR') research in language teaching. The texts are organised along four lines, which we have chosen because we believe they highlight the salient features of CR in language teaching today. A first observation emerges from reading the eleven contributions gathered here: the initial definition we proposed in the call for contributions implies that the roles of researcher or professional, trainer or practitioner must be clearly identified and identifiable by the contributors.
