An automatic experimental system was developed to research the atmospheric reactions of aromatic hydrocarbons in the air. This system was composed GC/FID (HP-5880A), two reaction bottles within an irradiation chamber and a dark bag, a concentration tube, a vacuum pump and solenoid valves. All experimental and analytical processes were controlled by a micro processor in theHP-5880A. By operatlng this system continuously for about 6months, many air samples which contained 0.01~100ppb aromatic hydrocarbons were examined on various conditions. It was found that the reactions of aromatic hydrocarbons were pseudo unimolecular, the reaction rates were proportional to the light intensity and the reactivities increased with the number of side chains...
