Since the middle of the 19th century, energy consumption and also the atmospheric CO₂ concentration have been increasing. The increase in the atmospheric CO₂ concentration is usually at tributed to the fossil fuel consumption. In the present paper, we examined how the atmospheric CO₂ concentration and global mean surface air temperature since 1860 are related to the CO₂ amount emitted by fossil fuel consumption and cement production. The following relationship was obtained among the atmospheric CO₂ concentration, z, fossil fuel consumption, x, and Hansen's global mean air surface temperature by least-squares calculation: z = 4.27x + 15.62y + 310.30 The standard deviation is 2.87 ppmv.
