The adsorption capacity of inorganic mercury (HgCl₂) in brine (NaCl 300g/l) on the particles of graphite and three types activated carbons was studied. As the results, it was found that the adsorption equilibrium at 15℃ was obtained in 3~5minutes in the case of graphite and activated carbon (Ⅱ), and the amount of adsorption on the activated carbon (Ⅰ) and (Ⅲ) particles was higher than that of graphite and activated carbon (Ⅱ). The sorption characteristics of methylmercurychloride on various soils and the other scavangers were examined, and compared with the term of instability partition coefficient for methylmercury-chloride in solutions in decreasing order was: FeS, CuS, HgS>Graphite>Soils (B)>Soils (A)>River Sand (B)>River Sand (A
