Koncentraciju nitrita u vodi za ljudsku potrošnju potrebno je neprestano pratiti zbog njihovog štetnog utjecaja na ljudsko zdravlje. Kako bi se utvrdilo da je metoda prikladna namijeni potrebno je provesti validaciju te metode. U ovom radu provedena je validacija spektrofotometrijske metode za određivanje nitrita u vodi, a ispitane izvedbene karakteristike su: selektivnost, linearnost, preciznost (ponovljivost i međupreciznost), istinitost, granica kvantifikacije i granica detekcije, radno područje i robusnost metode. Analiza je provedena sa standardnim otopinama nitrita u MilliQ i vodovodnoj vodi.
