The impact of demographic change on business and social activities

Before writing this paper, I already knew demography is a very important scientific field, especially because I live in Croatia where demographic topics are a daily occurrence. But I also stumbled upon many new interesting facts and situations around the world that broadened my view of the topic. For example the median age of some African countries being approximately 16 years sounds really shocking from the Westerners point of view. It is very interesting but also a little bit worrisome to learn what problems we as a global society will face. From developed, to still transitioning countries, all will have challenges to solve, and since we are more connected than ever, our problems are interrelated also. The demographic situation of developed countries that grow exponentially is also a potential problem for developed countries, which will probably see a large number of immigrants, both legal and illegal. The problem of greed from western corporations affects developing countries through environmental degradation and the political situation of those developing countries. As we continue to grow, which is absolutely certain from today's point of view, it is of greatest importance that together with population growth come the growth of consciousness towards sustainability, environments, resource allocation and many other factors which will affect the standard of living across the globe. The priority for the future is unitedness towards mutual goals and not further divideness of societies and governments. The pressure is rising, some structural changes will have to be made, regardless of how it was done in the past. While traditions and various cultures are very important and teach us diversity and the beauty of being different, they sometimes stagnant progress, social, political and economical. Societies will have to find a balance between new and old, probably faster then they thought, because the change is coming fast
