ギョジョウ カイイキ ニオケル ビセイブツ セイタイケイ ノ カイセキ II : リュウキュウ トウコ シュウヘン カイイキ ニ ジョウザイ スル バクテリオファージ ケイ ニツイテ

The author surveyed the distribution of bacteriophage-systems in seawater at fifteen stations around Amami-O-shima in October 1979, and detected seventeen bacteriophage-systems in the region. One of them, the 9XK-4301 phage-system, was distributed widely there. One year before this investigation, it also had been distributed widely in region around Okinawa. Thus it is clear that the phage-system is a resident in seawater around the Ryukyu Island Arc. The 9XK-4301 phage-system forms clear plaques with diameter in 1.0-1.5 mm. The phage particles consist of a head with a hexagonal outline, about 65 nm in diameter, and a comparatively curved long tail with 8-10 nm width and 180-200 nm length. The 9XK-4301 host strain belong to Beneckea campbellii originally isolated from seawater around the Hawaiian Islands by BAUMANN et al. (1971). We can utilize it as a hydrological indicator for the seawater mass of Kuroshio.本調査海域,北琉球島弧周辺海域は,その各調査定点における海水中の細菌細胞数の測定結果から,'78年次の調査海域,南琉球島弧周辺海域と同様に貧栄養海域であることが知られた。また本調査において,前年の調査で得られた知見,すなわち"ある海域の生物生産性や漁場性を推測する指標としては,単にその海水中の細菌の分布の多寡よりも,ファージ系の分布の動態をとらえることの方がより的確である"ということを再確認し得た。次に本調査海域に広く分布するファージ系を認めたが,これと同種のものが'78年次の調査海域にも広域に分布していたことが知られた。このファージ系はこの海域で時期と場所を異にしながら高い頻度で検出されるものであり,琉球島弧周辺海域に常在するファージ系であると思われる。このファージ系の宿主菌は,Beneckea compbelliiに近縁の菌株であり,よって,このファージ系はB.compbellii-phageと言える。このファージ系の溶菌斑は径1~1.5mmの円形,透明である。またそのファージ粒子構造は,径65nmの外観六角形をした多面体の頭部と,巾8~10nm,長さ180~200nmの尾部からなり,尾部は特徴的に湾曲している。このファージ系が黒潮海域に常在するものであれば,このファージ系を指標として,黒潮の流路や流域など黒潮水塊の水理的動態を追求しうるものと考えられる
