Anaerobic digestion (AD) is recognised as an alternative way to treat and to recycle organic wastes while producing biogas. Despite ambitious objectives set by French governments, the development of AD in France still faces various obstacles. Among these obstacles, the inhibition of biomass activity by high ammonia concentrations can be very limiting when treating nitrogen rich organic substrates.
