This work is dedicated to the study of the early stages of hydroxyapatite formation, a calcium phosphate phase whose composition is Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2. The crystallization mechanism of this material of biological interest (main component of bones and teeth) has recently been described as non-classical. In the latter, solute ionic clusters dubbed « prenucleation clusters » (PNC) form and aggregates before nucleating in an amorphous phase that later evolve towards hydroxyapatite. Prenucleation clusters are difficult to characterize because of their soluble nature, their nanometric size and their dynamic behavior (ionic exchanges, fast kinetics of formation and aggregation).
