In a context where miniaturization of imaging systems requires obtaining high-performance micro-optical components that can ideally withstand severe conditions (high temperature, high mechanical shocks, etc.), the high-fidelity fabrication of free-form microlenses made of glass is a technological goal. It also represents a challenge in terms of technical complexity. The technique known as « Femtosecond Laser Irradiation followed pas Chemical Etching » (FLICE), is a glass machining technique which has recently shown its ability to manufacture many categories of microcomponents, including conventional, but not free-form yet, micro-optical components.
