During gravity exchange across a neck between two reservoirs containing a liquid and a gas separately, a highly unsteady, multi-scale, two-phase flow develops. In this experimental work, two configurations were explored : (i) the emptying of a cylinder for large-diameter necks, and (ii) the filling of a cylinder, initially containing a gas and immersed in a volume of liquid. In these configurations, the coupling between the compressibility of the gas volume and the liquid mass, which evolve over time, generates oscillator-like behavior. This study analyzes and describes this behavior, as well as the mechanisms governing the population of bubbles created within the liquid.
