Abstract

Because of its unique physicochemical properties, hyaluronan (HA) is used to build biomaterials. Despite the utilization of HA in many medical applications, its field of applications can be further broadened by a modification of its numerous functional groups to change and control physicochemical properties. The aim of this study was to examine the hyaluronidase (HAase) activity on HA hydrophobically modified HA with various degrees of esterification and alkyl chain length. HA fragments were obtained by kinetically-controlled HA enzymatic hydrolysis.
