Wood is a popular choice for construction due to its versatility and its mechanical properties. It is also a good thermal insulator and humidity regulator. However, its ability to absorb water from its environment, in particular in the form of bound water inside the cell walls thanks to hydrogen bonds, can also be a limiting factor for its use.
