This project, submitted by Heidi Gray and Lauren Cartwright, consists of research findings related to the topic of blood specimen hemolysis within the emergency department. Hemolysis, or the destruction of red blood cells, is a growing concern throughout EDs, and nurses should be educated on ways to reduce it. These strategies can include method of blood draw, supplies used, and the use of a hospital\u27s pneumatic tube system. Reducing blood hemolysis will effectively lead to the lessening of nurse frustration and an increase in patient satisfaction
