St. Paul\u27s United Methodist Church is located in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Louis Sullivan was commissioned to design the church during 1910-1911. Sullivan lived in Cedar Rapids from 1910-1912 while he designed the church. Louis Sullivan’s original 1910 design included a gymnasium, highly organized Sunday school space, a dome of multicolored glass, and extensive exterior ornamentation. Its cost was twice what had been planned for, however, and rather than sacrifice his design, he withdrew from the project in 1912. Another architect, W.C.
