History can be one of the most exciting courses that high school students study. Yet often it is rendered lifeless by the sole use of the textbook. It is assumed that if the students are allowed to read history related crime fiction in conjunction with their history courses they will find the subject to be more interesting because the human drama of history is better personified in fiction than in the textbook. In addition to the concern for the students\u27 interest in history it is assumed that when given the opportunity teachers will work with media specialists on instructional development if provided with concrete ideas.
