Introduction: Vitamin B12, an essential micronutrient in the human body, is required for the synthesis of DNA, RNA, phospholipids, and neurotransmitters. Deficiency is due to either severe malabsorption by autoimmune gastritis, bowel diseases or gastrectomy, or by use of drugs that can cause malabsorption, and less dietary intake.
