The issue of inheritance is a very important issue and has always been one of the main subjects of discussion in law, because this is always present in every family and this inheritance problem is vulnerable to problems/conflicts in society as a result of which the distribution is considered unfair or there are parties who feel disadvantaged Inheritance is all the inheritance of the heir in the form of rights and obligations or all the assets left by the person who died after deducting all the debts and those who are entitled to inheritance are the heirs or people who are entitled to receive inheritance from the heir. The role and responsibilities of the village head are considered important for dispute resolution and are recommended before this inheritance dispute turns to the court so that it is better if the village head understands alternative dispute resolution outside the court such as the application of mediation, negotiation, conciliation and arbitration. For this reason, the author tries to describe how the responsibility of the village head is in resolving land disputes in terms of distribution of inheritance rights
