Paisaje cultural y sostenibilidad: una mirada en dos ejemplos latinoamericanos de México y Brasil

The article shows how the concepts of cultural landscape and historical urban landscape can generate better actions in the protection of cultural, natural, material, and intangible values of cultural territories and historical cities, under the vision of sustainable conservation. Examples are derived from two Latin American cultural contexts: Mexico and Brazil. For the Me­xican case, the city of Morelia, in Michoacan, was selected for a reading from the perspective of the historical urban landscape. In the Brazilian con­text, the case addressed is linked to the concept of cultural landscape with the example of the Triângulo Mineiro and the Alto Paranaíba region. The methodology used is based on bibliographic review and field work. From the selected examples, the changes over time are observed, diagnosing the problems they present for a correct comprehensive management from perspective of the risk of loss of material, immaterial, and natural cultural values. It concludes by reflecting on the importance of heritage in current society, affirming the need for holistic views in policy management of the historical urban and cultural landscape.Este artículo muestra cómo los conceptos de paisaje cultural y paisaje ur­bano histórico pueden generar mejores actuaciones en la protección de valores culturales, naturales, materiales e inmateriales, de los territo rios culturales y ciudades históricas, bajo la visión de la conservación sostenible. Se presentan ejemplos de dos contextos culturales latinoamericanos: Méx­ico y Brasil. Para el caso mexicano se seleccionó la ciudad de Morelia, en Michoacán, para realizar una lectura desde la mirada de paisaje urbano histórico. En el contexto brasileño, el caso abordado está vinculado al con­cepto de paisaje cultural con el ejemplo de la región del Triângulo Mineiro y Alto Paranaíba. La metodología se fundamenta en la revisión bibliográfica y el trabajo de campo. De los ejemplos seleccionados se observan los cambios sucedidos en el tiempo, diagnosticando los problemas que presentan para una correcta gestión integral ante los riesgos de pérdida de valores cul­turales materiales, inmateriales y naturales. Se concluye con una reflexión sobre la importancia del patrimonio en las sociedades actuales, afirmando la necesidad de visiones holísticas en las políticas de gestión del paisaje cultural y urbano histórico
