Strongyloides stercoralis is a small nematode that can live free in moist soil and that can parasitize the small bowel of humans. The adult female worm is colorless and transparent, measuring 2.2 mm in length, whereas the male is 0.7 mm long. The parasite has a wide geographic distribution and is even found in the United States, but it is most common in the tropics
