It has been reported on some arbors and herbs that when they are fixed with their axes in a horizontal position from a vertical position so that they may receive gravitational stimulation unilaterally, the development of lateral buds and roots, in addition to the promotion of the eccentric growth of the axes, is accelerated. Based on these facts, the present studies were taken up with a view to making clear the effect of unilateral stimulation of gravity on the morphogenesis in rice plants from both theoretical and practical standpoints
