This study was conducted to construct a Japanese version of the perfectionism scale by Burns (1980) and to examine the relationship between perfectionism and depression in college students. In Study 1, the original 10 items were translated into Japanese and they were administrated to 413 college students. Ninety-eight students of them also completed the Type A Behavior Scale, the Attitudes toward Self Scale, and the Narcissistic Personality Scale in order to examine the validity of the scale. It has high reliability and validity. In Study 2, 163 college students completed the same perfectionism scale with the Stressor Evaluation Scale, the Depression Scale, and the Hopelessness Scale.
