Coping Strategies used by Parents to manage Social and Emotional problems of their children with IDD during Covid-19

Due to Covid-19, Children with intellectual and developmental disabilities can affect parents, siblings, and family members in various ways. This study aims to investigate the Coping Strategies used by Parents to manage Social and Emotional problems of their children with IDD during lockdown due to Covid-19. The objectives of the study are (1) To know the parent's awareness about the Coping Strategies used by Parents to manage Social and Emotional problems of their children with IDD during lockdown due to Covid-19, (2) To know the different Coping Strategies used by Parents to manage Social and Emotional problems of their children with IDD during lockdown due to Covid-19. Thirty (30) parents were selected as the sample of the study. To collect information from the parents, a survey questionnaire was created. Data was collected and analyzed through SPSS. The data analysis revealed that parents are aware of different coping strategies to cater to their children's emotional and social issues with IDD. They are using different home-based programs regarding it under the supervision of teachers and different volunteers through virtual teaching and learning. Online help and guidance from children's respective schools are also available for them in this time of Covid-19. Children are undoubtedly becoming challenging to handle emotionally and socially at home, but by making their routines structured at home, the parents can handle the situation better.
