Rugose corals reinvestigated herein constitute the main part of the collection described by de Groot (1963). The taxonomy proposed herein differs in several instances from that accepted originally by de Groot. Some changes, such as Petalaxis for Lithostrotionella and Calophyllum instead of Polycoelia, were already introduced in de Groot’s unpublished catalogue. Others were introduced in order to match the recent advances in rugose coral systematics. Most systematic changes were based on new microstructural, diagenetic and hystero-ontogenetic studies.
