Asian orioles that have been reviewed since Greenway (1962) are discussed and recommendations are made for the recognition of subspecies. Reasons are provided for the split of Oriolus steerii Sharpe, 1877a, from Oriolus xanthonotus Horsfield, 1821, originally proposed in Dickinson et al. (1991) when such reasons were omitted.
