On March 11, 2020, World Health Organization declared the pandemic of COVID-19, and Brazil has been among the countries with the highest rates of infections and deaths. The paper aims to examine the relationship between socioeconomic determinants and SARS-CoV-2 mortality in Brazilian states to understand these considering existing regional and socioeconomic differences. The socioeconomic determinants and mortality in the first year of the pandemic were used in a cluster analysis, a principal component analysis, and a linear regression.
