This work presents the taxonomic treatment of the tribe Jatropheae in Bahia as a contribution to the knowledge of the state's flora. Two genera are recognised: Joannesia, with a single species (J. princeps), and Jatropha, with twelve species: J. calcarea, J. curcas, J. elliptica, J. gossypiifolia, J. hastifolia, J. longibracteata, J. martiusii, J. mollissima, J. mutabilis, J. paganuccii, J. palmatipartita and J. ribifolia.
