The collections of Dermaptera in the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden and the Zoölogisch Museum at Amsterdam, referred to in the present paper as "Museum Leiden" and "Museum Amsterdam", consist of numerous specimens including many types described by previous authors and a fairly large number of hitherto unidentified examples. A reinvestigation and an identification of the unidentified material therefore promised interesting results, a promise which has been fulfilled. The investigations took place during the war years 1942 and 1943 under unfavorable circumstances.
