Background: The experiences and needs of caregivers of older adults with depression are not well understood. This study aims to explore their experiences and desired resources from the healthcare system. Methods: Eleven qualitative interviews were conducted with caregivers of older adults with a clinical depression diagnosis in Toronto, Canada. Findings were generated via thematic analysis. Findings: Caregivers perceived a transformation in the person with depression’s behaviours and personality that also changed the relationship between them. Caregivers modified their lifestyle, perceived stigma towards their love one related to depression, and experienced declines in their own well-being.
