Devices combining a general purpose processor and reconfigurable FPGA fabric in the same package have recently become popular. Many tools exist to help simplify implementing designs on these devices. In particular, High Level Synthesis (HLS) tools are capable of taking code, written in languages such as C, as input and producing hybrid processor-accelerator systems.
