The aim of this thesis was to study and develop new charge transport materials for the application of organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices. The hole-transport material studied was a variation of the commercial product, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS); in which a synthetic derivative was created, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(styrene)-graft-poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PS-g-PSS), to act as a hole-transport layer. Initial conductivity results indicted its potential to be processed for use as a transparent conducting electrode for flexible OPVs.
