This paper aims to make an original contribution to existing scholarship by undertaking the first comparative analysis of American, British, and Canadian foreign policies toward Indonesia in the turbulent decade of the 1960s. Relying on a rigorous archival research and comprehensive survey of scholarly literature, this paper shows that the three countries pursued divergent Indonesia-policies shaped by their unique international and domestic circumstances: the US saw Indonesia through a binary Cold War prism, Britain through decolonization, and Canada through alliance politics
