In 2014, the Ontario Ministry of Education added a new Open-level French course at the high school level in order to accommodate the needs of Allophone students who had little or no exposure to French prior to their secondary education. This study explored FSL teachers’ experiences in integrating Allophone students into the French as a Second Language program through the Open-level French course. Two semi-structured interviews were conducted where experienced FSL teachers shared their perceptions about the course as well as the pedagogical approaches they believed to be effective for integrating Allophone students in French language learning.
