One of the changes that has accompanied creolization seems to be an increase in predicate chaining (similar to but not exactly the same as verb serialization) and an increase in the use of the prefixal predicate marker (a-) with the second verb in places where a pronoun in the past would have been used. Three corpora are compared: data from children's speech of 1991, samples from mostly adult speech of 1962, and samples from one adult speaker in 1992 giving his version of children's discourse
