Lugares de actividad de las abejas (Hymenoptera:Apoidea) presentes en bosque seco tropical del estado Guárico, Venezuela

The bees use diverse materials from the nature to support their metabolism, nests construction and/or defense. To know these sources is very important for the management of the apiculture and meliponiculture in order to guarantee the pollination of cultivated and not cultivated plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the bees' activity places in dry tropical forest of Guárico State in Venezuela. The sampling began in August 2007 and finished in July, 2008, with 8 hours effort/month. Bees were captured in 72 places through a transect of 500 m long. Results show that 65% of plants encountered represent species of plants distributed in 30 families. In Fabaceae (15 sp.), Asteraceae (6 sp.), Rubiaceae (4 sp.) and Malvaceae (4 sp.) recording the major numbers of species visited by bees, which represent 44.61 % of the botanical species determined in the study and which received the visit of 35.58 % of the bees. Apinae was the group more polilectic including 28 vegetable families visited, followed by Xylocopinae and Halictinae with 21 and 20 families respectively. The most important vegetable species for the bees, considering a frequency of visiting bigger than 100 individuals, were Amaranthus spinosus , Vernonia brasiliana , Hyptis sp. and those with higher diversity of visiting, including more than 13 species were V. brasiliana, Sida sp., Casearia sp., Wedelia caracasana .Las abejas utilizan diversos materiales provenientes de la naturaleza para mantener su metabolismo, construcción de nidos y/o defensa, por lo que conocer esas fuentes es de gran importancia para generar planes de manejo en la apicultura y meliponicultura y garantizar la polinización de plantas cultivadas y no cultivadas. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar los lugares de actividad de las abejas presentes en bosque seco tropical del estado Guárico en Venezuela; para lo cual se trazó una transecta de 500 m y todas las abejas vistas fueron capturadas y relacionadas con los lugares de actividad. Los muestreos se iniciaron en agosto 2007 y finalizaron en julio 2008, con 8 horas esfuerzo/mes. Se capturaron abejas en 72 lugares, 65 representan especies de plantas distribuidas en 30 familias. En Fabaceae (15 sp.), Asteraceae (6 sp.) Rubiaceae (4 sp.) y Malvaceae (4 sp.) se registró la mayor riqueza de especies visitadas por abejas, que representan el 44,61% de las especies botánicas determinadas en el estudio y que recibieron la visita del 35,58% de las abejas. Apinae fue el grupo más poliléctico con la visita a 28 familias vegetales, seguido de Xylocopinae y Halictinae con 21 y 20 familias respectivamente. Las especies vegetales más importantes para las abejas considerando una abundancia de visitas mayor a 100 individuos fueron Amaranthus spinosus , Vernonia brasiliana , Hyptis sp. y a una riqueza de visitas mayor a 13 especies fueron V. brasiliana, Sida sp., Casearia sp., Wedelia caracasana
