Psiquiatría - La necesaria subjetividad de la psiquiatría basada tanto en evidencias como en narrativas

One of the present psychiatric and medical paradigm is better known as the "evidence based medicine", which for mot people is the only objective and scientific practice. However, a growing number of professionals claim the importance of the subjectivity inherent to the human being, and the so called "narrative based medicine". This article shows that both conflicting ways of looking at medicine is also the product of the dual pattern of thinking acquired early during a person’s development. Also the unavoidable subjectivity that accompanies science in general is vindicated, and with it, the narrative based psychiatry and evidence based psychiatry. Both most find ways of objectivity but without taking subjectivity as the evil to avoid, but as an integral and not to be despised part of the psiquism and truthUn paradigma de la medicina y la psiquiatría actual es lo que se ha dado en llamar la "medicina basada en pruebas" (MBE) o "evidence based medicine", que para muchos es la única práctica objetiva y científica. Sin embargo, un número creciente de profesionales reclama la importancia de la subjetividad inherente al ser humano y de la denominada "medicina basada en narrativas" (MBN) o "narrative based medicine". En este artículo se plantea que el conflicto entre ambas formas de ver la medicina es también producto de los patrones de pensamiento dual tempranamente adquiridos en el desarrollo. Además, se reivindica la ineludible subjetividad que acompaña a la ciencia en general y por ello tanto a la psiquiatría basada en narrativas como a la basada en evidencias. Ambas tienen que buscar caminos de objetividad pero sin mirar a la subjetividad como el mal a evitar, sino como una parte integral y no despreciable del psiquismo y la verda
