grantor: University of TorontoThe hypothesis of this research was that there is a relationship between the effect of carbohydrates on blood glucose and their effects on appetite, food intake, mood and memory. Experiment 1 examined the effects of 300kcal preloads of sucrose, polycose, amylose and amylopectin on blood glucose over one hour. Experiment 2 examined the effect of the same treatments on appetite, food intake, mood and memory. The final experiment examined the relationships among the glycemic response to sucrose, polycose, glucose, fructose/glucose mixture and sucralose preloads and their effects on appetite, food intake, mood and memory. A relationship was observed between the high glycemic carbohydrates, sucrose, polyco...
