Four species of Amsinckia (Boraginaceae) have been found in the Netherlands, all introduced with grain from the U.S.A. Two of these, A. tessellata and A. retrorsa, have not been found again since about 1940; the third, A. lycopsoides, maintained a foothold until the sixties, but gradually decreased to be entirely replaced by A. micrantha (A. menziesii auct.), a species only sporadically found previously. The taxonomic status of A. intermedia is doubtful, and there exist no certain records for the Netherlands. At present, A. micrantha occurs scattered throughout the southern part of the Netherlands.
