Lemna minuscula was found for the first time in the Netherlands in the Meggelveld area, a complex of claypits in Central Limburg. This American species, in Europe first recorded in southern France in 1966, is expanding its area to the north and east. The habitat and growth form in the Meggelveld area are briefly discussed and compared with those of Lemna minor
