We provide a short overview of the derivation of the Poisson-Boltzmann Equation (PBE) and investigate the existence of solutions for the PBE in one dimension, where the domain is R. We statethe existence and uniqueness theorems for second order linear and nonlinear ordinary differential equation. Utilizing these theorems, we prove the existence of unique solutions to the linear and nonlinear PBE given one sided boundary condition.M.Sc
