The light density of aluminium has make it one of the main materials used in the aeronautic and automotive industries. Both industries are constantly trying to reduce weight to save costs in combustibles. When heat treated, aluminium alloys obtain values of specific strength that allows them to compete with ferrous alloys. Powder metallurgy is an alternative to conventional manufacturing techniques, such as casting or forging. It can produce small pieces at high rate with a high complexity, requiring much less machining process, thus saving time, costs and raw material.
