The objective of this paper is describing the process of updating the natural vegetation and land use map using digital TM/Landsat images interpretation techniques The most recent natural vegetation and land use map was published in 2000, in the scale of 1:250.000 by data compilation of more than twenty years ago. Updating these information is very important, considering the dynamism of the economic activity of the study area (Low Piracicaba watershed), an important economic and productive region for its localization near the industrial region of Campinas (SP).
