This article aims to analyze the reasons underlying the choice of teaching qualification in two different moments, as well as the role of university professors in consolidating the choice for teaching. This study consists of an exploratory research conducted with undergraduate students in Biological Sciences from a public university. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire applied to 57 students, addressing their social and educational characteristics and the reasons for their professional choice, and by a semi-structured interview with eight of these students.
